Caribbean
Some countries have seen an easing of entry requirements for vaccinated travelers this month: Antigua and the Bahamas require just an approved rapid-test; Cayman Islands have removed quarantine and Cuba, Sint Maarten and Honduras are all restriction free. If you are sailing to the Caribbean unvaccinated, probably the easiest country to enter is the Dominican Republic, where there are "all-inclusive marinas" for those not vaccinated and without a PCR test.
Central America
El Salvador now becomes the second country in Central America, after Costa Rica, that doesn't require a negative Covid test to enter after lifting all restrictions mid-November.
South America
At the start of the month Brazil announced the opening of its ports, unfortunately the health authorities (ANVISA) did not agree and still will not permit yachts to stop in the country - disappointing news for many boats planning their onward voyage from South Africa. Argentina and Uruguay opened for flights but maritime borders also remain closed to pleasure craft. Guyana has now restricted entry to vaccinated travelers only, like its neighbour Suriname.
Remember entry rules are in a constant state of flux and you should consult Noonsite's Covid document for the latest details.
