Seventeen sailors took part in this year's first Eastern District event for IOMs on Saturday 14th March hosted by Norwich MYC on Whitlingham Broad. Sailors home clubs pretty much covered all IOM clubs in the region.

Vinnie Zammit and his race team were in charge for the day running 17 races in total in a single fleet.

Weather conditions were dry with the breeze coming from the North West initially but it certainly kept the race officer on his toes as it moved around during the day.

Race wins were shared throughout the fleet with Dave Green, John Gill, Buzz Coleman, Ben Wallace and Duncan Ellis all getting the winners whistle at some stage during the day.

Results wise, seven different clubs in the eastern region were represented in the top 10 places showing a healthy start to the season in the East for the IOM class.

The Next eastern event take place at Huntingdon RYC on the 28th March and already has a healthy entry list but there is still time to enter.
