Marina Port Andratx has launched a marine wildlife rescue point in partnership with the Palma Aquarium Foundation, further underlining its commitment to marine conservation and the protection of Mediterranean species.

The initiative includes the installation of a dedicated rescue unit designed to ensure a rapid response to reports of injured or at-risk sea turtles, enabling their safe collection and transfer to the Foundation's specialised rehabilitation team.

The Balearic coastline is one of the Mediterranean's richest marine biodiversity hotspots, home to vulnerable species such as the loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta), whose conservation relies heavily on rapid response efforts and greater awareness across coastal and port areas.

Against this backdrop, partnerships between marine conservation experts and marinas are becoming increasingly important in helping injured marine animals get the care they need.

The new rescue point sees Marina Port Andratx take on a more active role in protecting marine wildlife across the Balearics, embedding environmental responsibility into day-to-day marina operations.

The initiative joins a growing list of projects carried out at other marinas within the IPM-IMG Group, including Marina Port de Mallorca and Marina Ibiza, where joint projects focused on environmental awareness, marine species protection and Mediterranean conservation have been running for several years now.

"We want Marina Port Andratx to play an active role in protecting the natural environment around us", said a marina spokesperson, adding that "initiatives like this one help us respond quickly when marine wildlife is in danger, while also bringing the importance of conservation closer to employees, guests and visitors".

In short, Marina Port Andratx continues to make headway with sustainability-driven initiatives aimed at protecting the marine environment and preserving the natural beauty of the local area.
