The African Boating Conference is proud to welcome Pantaenius as an official sponsor for ABC 2026, taking place on 20-21 October at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town.

As Africa's boating and superyacht sectors attract growing international attention, the importance of risk management, operational resilience and trusted insurance partnerships is becoming central to the sustainable growth of the region's marine economy.

Pantaenius, a global leader in yacht insurance and risk management, brings decades of expertise safeguarding superyachts, bluewater cruisers and offshore vessels worldwide. Their involvement reflects the increasing demand for experienced international partners capable of supporting safe, commercially viable and globally connected marine operations across Africa.

Maryanne Edwards, Conference Co-Organiser, said:

"As Africa positions itself as an emerging destination for bluewater cruising and superyacht activity, effective risk management becomes a foundational pillar for sustainable growth and international investment confidence. Insurance providers like Pantaenius play a vital role — not only in protecting assets, but in enabling confidence among owners, operators and investors. Their global experience brings credibility, stability and reassurance to a market that is rapidly evolving."

Against a backdrop of shifting geopolitical dynamics, changing cruising patterns and rising operational costs, yacht owners and operators are placing greater emphasis on strategic route planning, regulatory awareness and comprehensive risk mitigation. At the same time, Southern Africa is experiencing increased superyacht and cruising activity, creating both opportunity and operational complexity for the wider marine sector.

Reflecting on their continued involvement, Martin Baum, Head of Pantaenius Yacht Insurance, commented:

"We are very supportive of what Veda and Maryanne are doing for the industry, and it is our pleasure to be involved. I had the opportunity to attend the inaugural conference last year as a presenter and was extremely impressed — not only by the highly relevant content and the strong cross-section of industry stakeholders in the room, but also by the organisation, which was second to none.

Events like this are essential in bringing together the right voices to address both opportunities and risks, and we are pleased to support discussions around foreign-flagged vessels, bluewater cruising and the superyacht sector."

The African Boating Conference continues to bring together marina developers, policymakers, tourism leaders, investors, captains and marine businesses from across Africa and internationally to explore opportunities shaping the future of the continent's boating economy.

With global cruising routes continuing to evolve in response to geopolitical uncertainty and changing operating environments, Africa is emerging as an increasingly important destination and transit region. Ensuring the sector develops with strong risk management frameworks, international standards and trusted industry partnerships will be essential to sustaining long-term growth.

Pantaenius' support of ABC 2026 reflects growing global confidence in Africa's marine industry and reinforces the importance of international collaboration in supporting a safe, sustainable and internationally connected boating sector.
