Stoneways Marine 2021 - LEADERBOARD

America's Cup - On a fine St Patrick's Day on Bermuda's Great Sound

by Sail-World NZL on 18 Mar 2016

Oracle Team USA and top international sailing photographer, Ian Roman, found each other on the waters of the Great Sound in Bermuda on St Patrick's Day, and Ian, as always had his camera at the ready.

Enjoy these images of Oracle Team USA sailing one of their AC5S development boats, plus a couple of shots of Softbank Team Japan sailing Oracle Team USA's first of three development AC45's.

Points of interest on the Oracle Team USA boat is the way the rudders have been inset into the AC45 hull. The scoop transom has gone in this tidier setup.

There is a close up shot of the daggerboard and way this is contained in the hull.

If you look closely you can see some digital read-out numbers, but speed is not visible.

The jib skirt appears to have been lowered close to the deck to tidy up the 'end-plate' effect and turbulent flow.
