Overwhelming response from locals to support the Pink Sunset Sail

by Aqua Mania Adventures on 21 Sep 2016
The Pink Sunset Sail is organized as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month to support the Positive and Elektralyets Foundations in their efforts to raise Breast Cancer Awareness on the island of St Maarten Aqua Mania Adventures
After last year’s huge success, Aqua Mania Adventures will again be hosting a Pink Sunset Sail on October 1st, 2016. This event is organized as part of the Breast Cancer Awareness Month and functions as a fundraiser for the local Breast Cancer Awareness Foundations. Aqua Mania Adventures reached out to local businesses for support in making this event an even bigger success.

The response was overwhelming as many businesses came forward with wonderful initiatives. Proceeds of the Pink Sunset Sail and Pink Raffle will go to the Positive and Elektralyets Foundations to help continue their quest to raise Breast Cancer Awareness on the island of St. Maarten and other future projects and activities.

In order to guarantee the success of the event, the support was needed of local businesses. Aqua Mania Adventures reached out to many businesses for donations for the Pink Raffle which takes place aboard the boats that will sail out for the Pink Sunset Sail, and the support received was incredible.

People going out on the Pink Sunset Sail now have a chance to win fantastic prizes such as beautiful art from Roland Richardson, a weekend stay at the Summit Resort, jewelry from Splash Jewelers, gift boxes from Blue Water Rum, a weekend stay at the Simpson Bay Resort, a dinner for two at Pineapple Petes, a weekend stay at Divi Little Bay Resort, locally made art from Carla Templeton, a Tropical Venice Gondola Ride for two, a weekend stay at Oyster Bay Beach Resort, Brunch at Infinity, a two night stay at Commodores Suites, a necklace from Caribbean Gems and gift certificates from Simpson Bay Pharmacy, GreenFingers, Temptation, TriSport, Sushiitto, Domino’s, Karakter, Bucanneer’s, Escape and the St Maarten Zoo.

New this year is a bonus raffle. Back ashore all remaining raffle tickets will be combined for the finale raffle price donated by Budget Marine. One lucky winner will walk away with a beautiful Stand Up Paddleboard!

This year the Pink Fun continues long after the sun has set, as Red Piano made their pianist of the month October, Allan Sheppard, available to play his Caribbean tunes when the boats return to shore.

The Pink Sunset Sail is the second event on St. Maarten’s official calendar for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The goal of the event is to generate awareness among the local community about this devastating disease that affects so many of us. The primary message is the importance of self-examination and how early detection can save lives. Aqua Mania Adventures decided to team up with the Positive Foundation and the Elektralyets Foundation to successfully get this message across.

“It is amazing to see the entire community supporting our event. Whether it is by donating raffle items, supporting the event with the promotion, or by joining the actual event itself. Last year we noticed that several companies used the Pink Sunset Sail as their staff outing of the year. We are hoping to get even more local companies involved this year, as it is important to make Breast Cancer, or any type of cancer, discussable in our small community. What better way to accomplish that then by creating a comfortable environment in which the topic can be discussed?!” said Michele Korteweg, from Aqua Mania Adventures

The Pink Sunset Sail will take place on Saturday October 1st, 2016 at 5pm, leaving from the marina in Simpson Bay Resort where Aqua Mania Adventures is located. Due to last year’s overwhelming success, an additional boat has been made available. Besides Lambada and Tango, Aqua Mania’s 65’ sailing catamarans, Out Island Charter made one of their Golden Eagle catamarans available as well. This increased the total capacity to 230 people.

Tickets are for sale at $40pp, which includes a unique Pink T-shirt, a Pink Mimosa, open bar, snacks and a beautiful sail along St. Maarten’s golden coastline, sightseeing, sipping cocktails and watching the green flash. Proceeds of ticket sales and the raffle tickets will be donated to the Positive and ElektraLyets Foundations to support their programs regarding breast cancer.

Tickets can be bought at Aqua Mania Adventures locations in Simpson Bay Resort, directly online or at the activity desks for hotel guests. Book in advance to prevent disappointment of the event being sold out.

For those who would like to support the event by donating raffle items, or any other way, please contact marketing@stmaarten-activities.com or +1721 5442640.
