World ARC 2017-18 World Cruising Club
The last week World ARC fleet has arrived Neiafu, in the Vava’u island group of the wonderful Kingdom of Tonga. This is the end of the Leg 5 that started from Bora Bora, during which the boats stopped on the islands of Suwarrow and Niue. International clearances have been completed very smoothly and crews have been getting ashore in the main town of Neiafu where they attended the Welcome Dinner at the Aquarium Café. It was a great evening with delicious food, great music and dances.
The day after, crews went to Ene’io Beach Botanical Garden. The gardens, unique to the region, feature a great display of the botanical fabric of the South Pacific and are brought to life by a guided tour from their founder, Hanitelli Fa’anunu. World Cruising Club during the years, sponsors the gardens, and hopefully, this support will help preserve this unique collection.
During the weekend all boats left Neiafu for a short cruise on the islands around. All fleet is expected to be back for the Skippers' Briefing and the Prizegiving for Leg 5, before leaving for Fiji.
