The developer of the Eden Marina and Eden Resort Hotel has released key findings of the Financial/Economic Analysis report, prepared for and delivered to the NSW Government.

The report developed by the highly respected consultants GHD, confirms that in the first four years of the project, the local employment impact will be 150 direct and in-direct jobs per year. Continuing employment across the hotel/restaurant/marina group is calculated to be almost 100 direct and in-direct jobs.

In addition, the capital expenditure of the complete Cattle Bay project, comprising marina complex plus hotel and residential development, is $127.9m.

“The development at Cattle Bay will totally transform the town of Eden and become a focal point of the Sapphire Coast,” said Bob Carter, spokesperson for the Cattle Bay developers.

“This is a $127.9m major regional development, which will create a significant number of local jobs both during the construction phase as well the operational phase. Once fully operational, the collective turnover of the hotel alone is predicated to be $23m annually.”

The proposed development package at Cattle Bay includes:

• World-Class 154 berth marina
• Wave attenuator
• Internationally rated 250 room, 4 ½ star Resort Hotel
• Restaurant
• Conference Centre
• Major residential development

The release of the key findings of the Economic Benefits by GHD coincides with the imminent work on the extensions to the cruise ship wharf at the Port of Eden.

A vibrant and robust development at Cattle Bay is entirely complimentary to the cruise ship wharf extension. The Eden Resort Hotel will become a destination in its own right for cruise ship passengers while the marina will be a focal point for various charter boat and tour operators offering game fishing, whale watching, dive and parasailing experiences.

To put the Cattle Bay development into perspective, the capital works at Cattle Bay are almost triple the value of the cruise ship wharf extension.

The complete development at Cattle Bay stands as the single biggest development in Eden for many decades.
