Lots of 12-year-olds have lofty dreams. Few realise them. For Jess Watson though, there was something about her that allowed her to breakaway from the pack. In 2010, at the age of 16, she became the youngest person to sail non-stop and unassisted around the world. My friend and I wanted to see how she did it.
Jess became our subject, as one of 10 iconic Australians all hailing from different fields, in our 10-part documentary web series called, https://www.youtube.com/thethreadtv
The Thread. We are on a mission to learn what traits leading doctors, bankers, judges, entrepreneurs, athletes and adventurers like Jess all have in common.
What we find is remarkable. There is a thread that weaves its way through their answers and reveals itself, one-by-one, throughout the 10 episodes. At episode number six in the series, we piece together the thread of 'support'.
