Sail-World readers can now purchase the of the first of a collection of America's Cup related DVD's produced by Mediawave

Entitled the 'House of the America's Cup', the first DVD contains four short feature films produced for the historical exhibition at the 150th Anniversary of the America's Cup in Cowes. The DVD was compiled and produced by Larry Keating and Bruno Trouble and features a lot of rare and previously unseen film. The total running time for the DVD is approximately 40 minutes.

Keating is a long-standing sailing broadcaster and TV producer, he has also had a long association with the Mystic Seaport Museum, which is the custodian of one of the largest collections of film and video on the America's Cup. Bruno Trouble has long been the driving force behind the Louis Vuitton Cup and Louis Vuitton's involvement in the event and is one of the great visionaries of the sport. The talents and perspective of the two are combined to produce an outstanding series.

The first feature in the 'House of the America's Cup' DVD is a dramatisation of the origins of the America's Cup and the first race in 1851.

Next is the J-class era from 1930 to 1937, this features a lot of black and white original film from both sides of the Atlantic showing J's being build and launched, sailed across the Atlantic and raced in the three America's Cups sailed in the J-class. Towards the end the video goes to the restored J-class and shows these in colour competing in races off Cowes

The third entitled 'Tycoons' shows video of the personalities and key events in the Cup, and all the classes used from the original yachts to the J-class; the 12 Metres (including video of President Kennedy watching the racing); then onto the Big-Boat vs The Cat and finally onto the modern America's Cup class from the launch of the first boat in Venice, onwards.

The fourth video, 'The Modern Era' has extensive video of all the four America's Cups and Louis Vuitton Cups sailed since the launch of the new class, including New Zealand's two victories and the win by Alinghi in 2003.

All four features are contained within the one DVD which makes it a real historical treasure covering 150 years of America's Cup history and development.

The second DVD to be offered by Sail-World will be a compilation of all the action from the Acts for the 2007 America's Cup, starting with Act 1 and finishing with Act 12. We've seen the preview and Larry Keating has once again done a great job in production with commentary by Martin Tasker, Peter Lester and Andy Green.
