Australian Olympic sailor Melanie Dennison and her crew from the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron are the sixth placed women’s crew after the
first three races of the world championship for the International Yngling keelboat class being sailed off Newport, Rhode Island, USA.

This the first world championship since the Yngling was named as the women’s keelboat class for the 2004 Athens Olympic Games with 21

Dennison, who sailed in the single-handed Europe dinghy class at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, won race three of the championship, her
other placings of 15, 29 and 6 giving her a total of 67.7 points to be 11th overall and sixth woman skipper.

American woman Helen Swett is overall leader with a score of 10-4-6-1 on 35.7 points, just one point ahead of Denmark’s M. Christensen.
