Pantaenius 2022 - SAIL & POWER 2 LEADERBOARD ROW

New Cruise Rally New York- Bermuda with Tania Aebi

by BW Media on 18 May 2008
The view of Manhattan from Lincoln Harbor Yacht Club SW
On June 15, a brand new cruising rally will depart New York, heading for the sun. Just six days later, after a journey in company down the eastern coast, the rally is due to arrive in Bermuda on or about 21st June. Whether you have a boat with full crew, need crew, or even are a crew member who would like to join the cruise, you will be welcome to join the party.

Departing from the lovely Lincoln Harbor Yacht Club in New York Harbour, the rally organisation is to be led by well known sailing personality and solo circumnavigator Tania Aebi. The advantages of travelling in company are many, as thousands of rally participants round the world can testify – the fun, the camaraderie, the feeling of safety from knowing other yachts are somewhere nearby, and the daily contact scheds.

It will be a dramatic start to the sail, sailing in the shadow of the Manhattan skyline, past the Brooklyn Bridge, Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, before heading under the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge and into the Atlantic. Finally the flotilla of yachts will sail to St George's Harbour and then be ready to celebrate their arrival in the historic waterway.

Daily contact scheds will be by satellite conference phone instead of the traditional SSB. To learn more about the rally, its safety requirements and how to go about joining, go to the website at www.bermudacruisingrally.com

According to a recent report in The Jersey Journal, you'll be in good hands at the Lincoln Harbor Yacht Club - some of them are quite good at retrieving drunken passengers from the waters of the Hudson River.
