Representatives of the New Zealand marine industry recently gathered in Queenstown to discuss ways of better promoting their businesses.

The New Zealand Marine Industry Conference was focused on its theme of Smarter Business for Better Results and was addressed by a number of leading efficiency and marketing experts.

The marine industry delegates also shared information on how their companies have established and maintained successful export businesses and how they have managed to reduce costs, especially in the manufacturing process.

The MIA members also received briefings from some of New Zealand’s top economic forecasters and visited two of Central Otago’s most successful international wine producers.

The Marine Industry Association of New Zealand also held their Annual General Meeting at the Conference.

The sitting President and two Vice Presidents were re-elected unopposed to their positions.

Ian Cook of Yachting Developments was re-elected President and sitting Vice Presidents Phil Wardale of Bayswater Marina and Griff Simpson of Fi-Glass Products were also re-elected.

Although the President of the MIA is also usually Chairman of the Boating Industry Training Organisation, President Ian Cook elected to delegate this position to Lloyd Stevenson of Lloyd Stevenson Boatbuilders and Lloyd accepted the role.
