With six Supermaxi's in the game, the real race and the one that everyone was talking about, was the battleof the big boats and that was for the McConaghy Cup.

The first place prize for the first McConaghy boat across the line in the 2009 Rolex Sydney Hobart race. In recognition of this historical battle between ICAP Leopard, Wild Oats and Alfa Romeo, considered the most prolific winners in Maxi history, McConaghy co-owner Mark Evans presented Alfa Romeo owner and skipper Neville Crichton with the coveted award. 'The whole McConaghy team is delighted for all our clients in this years race. It was certainly interesting as the wind changed the equation several times over. I would have liked to have given the McConaghy Cup for line honours to Neville, Bob and Mike but today is Neville and the Alfa crews day', said McConaghy Co-owner, Mark Evans.

Befitting a global leader in marine technology, the McConaghy Cup is not just another piece of silver or glass. It is in fact a very cool carbon fibre powerboat steering wheel for the Maxi's tender. 'We're known for our innovation, in fact it's something very much imbedded in our culture at McConaghy.

Coming up with a products and prizes of this nature is not only essential to our brand, it's an important way to acknowledge our clients and the passion we all share for the sport and the technology that enables it', said Jono Morris. 'The McConaghy Cup recognizes the race that went on within the Rolex Sydney Hobart race adding an exciting element for McConaghy owners and fans', said Mark Evans who heads McConaghy in China.

McConaghy, makers of some of the fastest yachts on the planet, from Mach 2 Foiling Moths to Supermaxis and everything in between will also be recognising best McConaghy Handicap (overall) winner.
