Sydney 38 Sizzles into Summer

The Sydney Yachts production line continues to deliver the '38's at pace as success breeds success in this fun One Design class. In total, over forty-two Sydney 38's will be on the water in Australia by the start of the season.

The owners, and soon to be owners list, contains many new Australian sailors as well known winners from other racing categories are continuing the move to the Australian One Design; Gavin Ward from 'Abracadabra', Karl Stechmann from the 40.7 'Blue Chip' and Graham Gibson, from his Farr 47 'Ninety Seven'.

Gibson said, 'The Sydney 38 offers a One Design competition rules that allows them to have good match racing competition, cost effectively and we can race inshore and offshore successfully. My boat will be in the water in July, just in time to contest all the Northern Australia races, we can hardly wait', he said.

Steven Kulmar's Sydney 38 'Sea' will be joining the RPAYC fleet, as an active racer and Kulmar who campaigned his Mumm 36 'Sea' with distinction will be certainly enjoying the fun sailing in the ten strong Pittwater fleet.

Robin Tedder's Sydney 38 'Stony Broke' will be further expanding the MHYC fleet in time for the next round of the state titles on July 20th and 21st on Sydney Harbour.

Class President Michael Jones new Golden Jubilee Sydney 38 will be delivered for the Sydney Boat Show and then two more Sydney 38's have been ordered and will shipping to the rapidly growing U.S. fleet, with seven boats now racing in California and seven in Chicago.

Another Sydney 38 has been ordered in Melbourne and will take their summer
racing numbers up to six with further strong interest. The Hamilton Island fleet has already increased again, ahead of the Race Week rush with a new Sydney 38 for the original 'Addiction' owners.



Martin Thompson from Sydney Yachts explained that 'Sydney 38 delivery is now out till October and people interested in being apart of what is going to be the most enjoyable season ever seen should contact Sydney Yachts about getting into all of the fun before it is too late for this year.'
