European Yacht of the Year finalist- The Elan 350

by Sail-World Cruising on 18 Aug 2010
Elan 350 sensational lines Elan Marine
It's not the first time the Elan Group has walked towards the winner's podium, but they have done it again. If you are in the market for a new boat, a boat building company that keeps taking out impressive accolades would have to be under consideration, no matter what style of yacht you are seeking.

And the latest award? Elan’s new 350 model has been nominated for the prestigious European Yacht of the Year 2011 in the Performance Range.

The new yacht was only launched in May, and this adds to an impressive collection of awards the Slovenian owned boat builder has received just in the past few years alone, among which the Elan 340 won European Yacht of the Year in 2007 and Elan Impression 344 in 2006, a catamaran, as well as Nominations for both Elan 410 and Impression 514 in 2008 in various categories.

The people at Elan tell us that the 350 design by Rob Humphreys brings a totally exciting new concept to models in this size range with the twin wheel / twin rudder configuration, broad aft quarters, T- keel and distinctive chined hull.

With stand-out looks and broad appeal for fun and exhilarating short-handed sailing, the boat also offers fabulous cruising interior space and comforts in the true Cruiser Racer sense.

Following Elan’s success with the company’s astute decision to produce an exciting entry level boat in view of the global economic downturn at the time, the 310 model was launched mid last year and taken over 50 orders to date. The new 350 model is primed to follow with strong level of interest and orders so far.

In the past year, Elan has released three new models; 310, 350 Cruiser Racers and the cruising model Impression 444.

Judging is carried out by 11 premier yachting magazines across the board from Europe, who made the Nomination decisions from their tests at this stage with further extensive testing to follow in the latter part of the year. The winners of the award will be announced at the Düsseldorf Boat Show, Boot, in January 2011.
