Fishers Green SC welcomed twenty-seven Topper sailors from across the Eastern region to an Open Training day on Saturday 19th March.

It may have been March but the temperature soared, new friends were made and even a slight breeze eventually appeared. The coaching was led by Sally Dugdale (Eastern Area Topper Representative) and ably assisted by James Patience and James Dugdale.

FGSC is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2011 and the regional Topper training was a great start to introducing sailors to the club.

There are some exciting new events for the diary including the inaugural FGSC Topper Open Meeting (sponsored by Brookbank Sailing) on Saturday 7th May and the 50th Anniversary Weekend held over the 18/19 June weekend.

Finally, to raise much needed funds for the Topper fleet and youth sailing, a raffle has been launched with great prizes generously donated from Brookbank Sailing, Gul, Harken, Helly Hansen, Marlow Ropes, Musto, Neil Pryde, Proboat, Topper Sailboats and Zhik. The grand draw will be on May 7th at the Topper Open Meeting - tickets can be bought from FGSC galley and all monies are invested back into getting more youth sailors on the water. Any other marine manufacturers wishing to donate a prize don’t be shy and please contact Simon Butterworth.

The club launched the new Topper fleet in 2010 with six boats and is going from strength to strength with a burgeoning list of new members this year.
