Saturday 8 October saw the first of the X-Yachts Sailing Clinics which was organised by Guy Jackson who is the X-Yachts in house race specialist and Jeremy Smart from North Sails.
The idea behind the sailing clinics is to create a planned program which offers on the water support and advice on sailing and racing your X-Yacht to the best of its performance. X-Yacht owners and crews will be provided with written de brief reports which include photo and video evidence for analysis.
Saturday’s session focused on upwind sailing, upwind manoeuvres and boat trim. A short windward – leeward course was set in the Solent which aloud the three X-Yacht owners and their crews to work through the list of key points which had been set out by the coach team. With a steady 16-18 knots of breeze it was perfect conditions for the X-yacht owners and crews to get a real feel of how well X-Yachts can sail to windward.
X-Yacht owners were able to benefit from viewing their X- Yacht from an outside view. By watching their X-Yacht sail whilst sat on the rib it gave them a different prospective on how sail trim and boat trim work which ultimately improves performance.
X-Yachts next sailing clinic will be ran on Saturday 22 October and will focus on downwind sailing and manoeuvres. The sessions are open to all of the X-Yacht range and can be tailored to suit your needs. For further information regarding the X-Yachts sailing clinics please contact:
