by Amy Prime 11 Oct 2013 16:00 UTC 14-19 October 2013

From Monday a team from Wessex Sailing Club (Southampton University) will be representing England at the 2013 Student Yachting World Cup in Pornic, France. The event will see 14 teams from 13 nations compete in J80s. The racing series, a mixture of inshore and costal racing, will begin on Monday 14th and continue until Saturday 19th.

The team (consisting of Max Richardson, Annabel Vose, Amy Prime, Kate Deveaux and George Johnson) are students / recent graduates from the University of Southampton and were selected to represent England after winning the Student Yachting Nationals earlier this year. Many of the team have previously represented GBR at dinghy and keelboat events and are aiming to achieve a top 3 result at the SYWOC.

Thanks for support go to Aberdeen Asset Management, The British University Sailing Association and The University of Southampton who have made it possible for the team to compete. Their progress and the event can be followed at www.sywoc.org.
