Stylish New Gust EVO Sailing Sunglasses from Forward Sailing © Forward Sailing

Correctly designed sunglasses are an essential piece of sailing equipment serving to protect you from glare but also serving as a sort of personal windscreen, allowing you to look directly into the wind to look for gusts.

Forward sailing's Gust EVO sunglasses are Swiss designed and developed in collaboration with sailing professionals such as Loick Peyron. As a result, they are very light weight and comfortable with a wraparound design to provide wind protection and wide arms to shield you from light coming in from the side. Glare is eliminated by vertically polarized Cat 3 lenses in a choice of three colours – Smoke Grey, Mirrored Gold or Mirrored Blue, and provide 100% UV protection. These also have a hydrophobic coating to assist with water dissipation. They are available as an optional extra separately too.

The use of polarized lenses also allows the wearer to spot gusts and wind shifts as they tend to stand out as darker patches on the water.

A stylish innovation of these glasses is the ability to customize the colour of the arms by using interchangeable rubber ear supports, also available as an optional pack, in a range of colours; Red, Blue and Pink. These also have a discrete integrated elastic cord to prevent them being lost from the face as a big wave hits. It is long enough to allow the removal of the glasses to hang around the neck, or can be shortened with a thumb knot to fix them firmly in place. A tiny orange floatation pad is also included.

The ear support shape is designed to be compatible with helmets, such as the Forward WIP PRO Helmet, as used on some of the GC 32, Extreme 40 and AC45 teams.

The lightweight frames have flexible nose grips allowing them to fit a wide variety of facial shapes and fit comfortably. The frames are also available in a range of 4 finishes; Smoke Grey, Gloss White, Matt White, and Matt Black. So, using the different optional lens and rubber packs, over 20 different variations are achievable for suit your style or mood!

The glasses also come with a smart and strong carbon effect zip case and a cleaning cloth.

The Gust EVO Sunglasses are available as the following versions before customizing:

  • Gloss White with smoke lenses and black rubbers
  • Matt White with gold lenses and black rubbers
  • Smoke Grey with smoke lenses and blue rubbers
  • Matt Black with blue lenses and black rubbers
  • Matt Black with smoke lenses and red rubbers

RRP £59 From all good chandleries including Andark, Firmhelm, V Rigger, Rutland Chandlery and P&B.
