ARC+ St. Vincent arrivals in Mindelo are almost complete with only two yachts left to finish their passage. For those already berthed in Mindelo Marina, their first days ashore have been spent exploring the Sao Vicente, enjoying the glorious sunshine of the tropics and creating vibrant atmosphere with crews congratulating and sharing stories from their first sail together as a fleet.
On Thursday, crews gathered at the Marina Mindelo Floating Bar for the official Welcome Party. The evening began with a (slightly belated) round of 'Happy Birthday' for Megan from Blue Infinity, as local snacks and caipirinhas were served.
Luts Meyer-Scheel General Manager of Marina Mindelo gave a welcome speech to the gathered crews, sharing the history of the marina and telling them how happy he is to host the ARC+ yachts each year. His words of welcome encouraged crews to explore the islands with the time they have and to relax before setting sail to St. Vincent.
This evening, Friday, a Prizegiving Ceremony will be held at the Cultural Club, with an escort of dancers and drummers taking crews through the town. It will mark the end of the first leg of their two stage adventure, before the re-start to Blue Lagoon, St. Vincent on Sunday 25 November.
