Ocean Alexander 45 Divergence on target to “shatter expectations”

Marking "an expectation-shattering departure from its stellar line-up of luxury yachts", Ocean Alexander unveiled the 45 Divergence concept at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in November.

Needless to say, response to this totally breakthrough model was universally positive from industry and media alike.

At an overall length of 47ft with a 13ft beam, the Ocean Alexander 45 Divergence has a capacity up of to 18 people, is powered by quad 350hp Mercury Verado engines and features unprecedented levels of comfort for a boat its size.

It draws on the design cues from Ocean Alexander's larger yachts, most notably in the cockpit, where fold-down gunwales expand the space and offer infinity views along with an alfresco dining experience. Hidden swim ladders also make it the perfect platform for fishing, diving, swimming, and every form of water sport.

"The 45 Divergence is a very drastic change in our product offerings and has caught quite a number of buyers and our competitors off guard," explains Johnny Chueh, Ocean Alexander President.

"We named this model the Divergence, because that's what it truly is. A divergence from Ocean Alexander's existing model offerings, but also a divergence from the expectations in this growing market segment.

"We took a very careful look at this and realized that we were in the perfect position to design a boat in this range. Instead of coming at it from a perspective of a centre-console builder who's expanding their line, however, we looked at this with fresh eyes of a luxury yacht manufacturer designing for a much smaller space."

The dramatic reveal of the 45 Divergence stole none of the limelight from the impeccable new Ocean Alexander 90r which made its much-anticipated debut at FLIBS.

"With the debut of the 90 Revolution, we've shown the world that we're capable to providing a product that's innovative in design without losing any integrity of the manufacturing process or degrading our reputation of a highly regarded sea-going vessel," said Mr Chueh.

"With the 45 Divergence, the market will realize that we have immense flexibility in our product range due to our multiple manufacturing facilities.

"The Merritt Island, Florida location has been building the 70e for over four years exclusively and it's a fine-tuned process that is producing one of the best models in its class. We wanted to take advantage of our growing number of craftsmen and diversify the yard to ensure its long-term success. In the process of that examination, we also noticed a gain in the marketplace in the 40ft to 50ft range of boats that weren't sport yachts but were essentially very large centre-console style of boats."

The Ocean Alexander 45 Divergence is scheduled for on-water premiere at the Miami International Boat Show in February 2019 and slated to arrive in Australia mid-2019.
