On this Easter Sunday, the start of the grand finale of the 37th edition of Lake Garda Meeting Optimist, an event organized by Fraglia Vela Riva that this year recalled 1164 young sailors from all over the World in the waters of North Lake Garda, is scheduled for today at noon.
The six races held so far, both in the Junior and Cadet categories, have allowed fleets to be divided into two main groups, Gold and Silver, and today the young sailors belonging to the Gold group will give their best trying to achieve success in one of the most famous events in the international Optimist scenario.
The already World Champion Marco Gradoni leads the Juniores standings on equal points with Richard Schultheis from Malta, while Fraglia Vela Riva's athlete Alex Demurtas is third with 10 points and an excellent scoreline (discards a fourth as worst result).
In the fleet of the very young Cadets, the rhythm is set by the Brazilian Erik Scheidt (4-1-1-1-7-1), followed by Amelie Ropke, first female athlete, and by the Italian Sofia Bommartini.
