As a result of a recent survey about what clients would look for in a winter flotilla, Seafarer is 'testing the waters' (literally!) on a new winter flotilla in Thailand, by running a pilot 7 night flotilla on the 22nd of June.

As a 'mini-flotilla' it has been promoted as a 'rally' and will be cruising from Phuket to the beautiful Phi Phi Islands.

Seafarer have of course been promoting bareboat and cabin charter holidays in this area for years and their long-standing, local, trusted partner in Phuket will have one of their experienced skippers on the lead boat for that outstanding local knowledge, Also on board will be recdently promoted and well known former flotilla skipper Giannis. The aim is that the trip will become a permanent fixture on the flotilla callendar over the winter months between December and April.

Similar to their recent circumnavigation of the Peloponnese flotilla, this is part of a series of "pilot episode" flotillas aimed at more adventurous, Seafarers, looking for somewhere new.

Phuket is an Island located in the southwest of Thailand in the Andaman Sea and is considered as the centre of one of the world's most beautiful sailing areas. The area boasts hundreds of idyllic islands, countless secluded beaches and all in lush tropical surroundings. The spectacular Phang Nga Bay with its amazing limestone pinnacles made famous through the James Bond film, is just one amongst countless iconic sights they will explore on this trip.

The lead yacht will be a catamaran with en suite cabins, so for those that don't want to charter an entire yacht, there is also the possibility to book by the cabin. The support and camaraderie clients have come to expect on a Seafarer flotilla will be there, with daily briefings and some group meals as well visits to points of interest.

The area features stunning anchorages suitable for overnight stays as there are very few harbours and marinas, whilst charming villages offer unique lunchtime stops. Many of the islands in this region are ringed with dazzling coral reefs so rich in marine life that giests will be tempted to spend much of their time in the water rather than on it.

All in all it's a great mix of natural beauty, history and culture plus some great sailing as the icing on the cake!

The itinerary takes in Phuket, Koh Hong, Koh Khai Lai (or James Bond island), Ko Panyi (the floating fisherman's island), then Koh Hong East & Koh Dam kai, Koh Phi Phi, Yonsakem Bay (Monkey Bay), Koh Phi Phi Lei, mooring at Ton Sai Bay, Next is Koh Kai Nai followed by overninght anchoring at Koh Nawa before returning to Phuket.

Seafarer offer the opportunity to extend with a land stay in Phuket and BangKok and can organise the complete package includsing flights, transfers and hotel extension.

Prices start at £1995 per yacht for a 3 cabin/2 heads Sun Odyssey 409. Flights and transfers are from £595 pp whilst a 3 day land extensions starts from £149 pp.

Seafarer's M.D. Chris Lorenzo said 'Phuket and the Phi Phi siands represent a sailor's paradise with good sailing plus fantastic scenery, stunning beaches, colourful tropical sea life plus a fascinating history and culture. The area reprsents fantastic value for money whilst flights are considerably cheaper than the Caribbean making it a very tempting proposition indeed'.
