14 visitors joined a home fleet of 10 for the Cock of the North areas championship which was hosted by Ripon sailing club.

Saturday dawned with glorious sunshine and a fresh south easterly wind, gusting force 6-7, providing a challenge for all but the most experienced competitors. Many took an unexpected swim when the gusts caught them unawares, which kept the safety boat team from getting too bored.

Tim Sadler and crew, Richard Sault, beat off strong competition and had a 1st in both the Saturday races beating Jonathon Woodward and Alex Helliwell and Pete and Alicia Bennett.

Weary bodies retired to rejuvenate with a fabulous hog roast, disco and copious drinking!

Day 2 was again hot and sunny. The wind was more manageable at Force 2-3 but Tim managed to keep any rivals at bay taking another 1st in the third race and securing his victory. Tony and Sam Woods won race 4 and Jonathon and Alex won the final race.

Overall Results:

1st Tim Sadler and Richard Sault (E22918)
2nd Jonathon Woodward and Alex Helliwell ( E23089)
3rd Tony and Sam Woods (E23165)
4th Dave and Jackie Gebhard (E18749)
5th Pete and Alicia Bennett (E22134)
1st Ripon Boat (7th overall) Mike and Amy Tomlinson(E22936)
