Jeanne Socrates is closing in on the record books
by Daria Blackwell / OCC 28 Aug 2019 07:09 UTC
Jeanne Socrates is making her way back to British Columbia to complete her circumnavigation as the oldest person to sail solo nonstop around the world.
Jeanne is hoping she will complete her record bid by the end of August, but it's slow going. Nereida has been plagued by breakdowns, the latest casualty being a genoa that parted in a storm. She is limping along at less than 5 knots under a small staysail and storm jib in light winds. A high-pressure system sits just off the coast of North America and Nereida will have to be patient. So near and yet so far.
Your friends are waiting for you, Jeanne!
