This carbon infused Catana 65 was built specifically for the owner by the Catana shipyard to make a much lighter and more luxurious version than standard. This has resulted in the perfect alchemy between sought after speed under sail and comfort onboard without compromising safety on long passages.
Carbon infusion
There is no comparison with any other boats around, she truly is one-of-a-kind with carbon infused throughout the boat in myriad places. The hulls are infused wth carbon bulkheads and Kevlar-type reinforcements. The entire deck is in carbon along with all hatches, lockers, bimini etc.
Of course the M40J mast, canoe boom and front beam are also in carbon of the best quality. Standing rigging is in carbon by Navtec and so are the furlers by Harken. Sails are absolute top of the line DFI by Incidence made in a carbon / Kevlar mix.
The result of this tremendous yet costly diet is a loss in weight of no less than 5 tonnes from the standard version! A true performance cruiser for the owner's great pleasure.
Sailing performance
This Catana 65 Carbon infused has won the famous Heineken regatta in Saint Marteen and this year made it to the third position overall at the Tahiti Pearl Regatta just after two dedicated racing multihulls. The last cruising leg from Galapagos to French Polynesia was achieved in 15 days without much effort or taking any risk.
Destination is always delightful but the journey itself can now be enjoyed as well. A good sailing catamaran is only worth her money if she can perform well under sail. Speed is an important safety feature limiting your exposure at sea. Stay in front of the weather systems and make better time on your passages.
Comfortable accommodation
Comfort has not been left aside by the renown Catana yard. This model is an Owner's version with two guest cabins (one convertible into two singles) and one skipper cabin.
