Headlines:

  • Emma Wilson endures tough day in Sorrento to hold fourth in women's fleet going into Saturday's medal race
  • 20-year-old currently 10 points off third-placed French rival Charline Picon
  • Wilson: "It's all on for tomorrow"
  • Tom Squires ninth going into men's fleet medal race, recording race win on penultimate day
  • Team mates Andy Brown and Kieran Holmes-Martin finish regatta in 22nd and 42nd respectively

What they said:

Emma Wilson (20, Christchurch, Dorset), RS:X women: "Today was pretty hard, I had a really good race and then two races that were not quite as good. I got a bit stuck in the fleet and the shifts. It was really tricky out there, but I learnt a lot and it's useful to take that forwards. Tomorrow it's all on, I will try my hardest and see what happens!"

Tom Squires (26, Kingston Bagpuize, Oxfordshire), RS:X men: "I really had to fight for it out there today. After a shocker in the first race I really had to give myself a shake down and get two stand-out races. An average second race made it make-or-break on the last. I took the bullet and secured ninth going into tomorrow's medal race. The guys I was fighting for the top ten were some of the best in the fleet I'm super stoked to be in the medal race tomorrow."

Andy Brown (20, Glasgow, Scotland), RS:X men: "I had the speed, good starts, and great windward mark roundings however in gold fleet I made too many avoidable mistakes that especially in this venue are punished severely. I went from sixth to 28th on a second beat today! Great and horrid moments and some good learning to pull from this racing and go on into foiling with. Some really high level racing. Loved it. Just dissatisfied that I failed to match the results with my potential."
