Yesterday was World Ocean Day and many Kiwis celebrated their ambition for a healthy ocean with the second annual Live Ocean Winter Dip.

In New Zealand, the Peter Burling and Blair Tuke backed Live Ocean Charitable Trust promoted World Ocean Day as a way of recognising that the ocean is the life support system of the planet and urged fans to step up to the challenge of protecting and restoring it.

"Many of the issues facing the ocean are out of sight and below the waterline so the Live Ocean Winter Dip is about connecting Kiwis around the country and making our support visible", Live Ocean said on social media.

Here's a photo sequence of some doing their bit, we assume, for World Ocean Day, yesterday at the Wynyard Basin.

Not entirely sure, but the cameraman on the boat was heard to say that he'd got the settings wrong, and they'd have to do it all again. He must have been kidding, right?
