The OCC is working towards helping our members maintain a sustainable lifestyle without contributing damage to the environment and where possible helping to repair damage done.

We do not need to recreate what others have already spent considerable resources creating for sailors. Instead, we will share what others have successfully trialled, attempt to set goals and measure results when possible, and identify additional needs where we find gaps.

Our members are among the most wide-ranging of all travellers on earth and see at first hand the pollution of the oceans and the degradation of the marine environment, along with experiencing the effects of climate change. We intend to find ways to report environmental problems encountered to the relevant authorities and to help our members make a real difference.

In tribute to World Ocean's Day, download the free and excellent Green Boating Guide created by Sailors for the Sea. Follow the link below.

Two pictures from the Azores
To my sailor brethren, I'd like to share two pictures In Horta, Azores, in July, all landed sailors were required to be tested for Covid to go ashore. That is if you wanted to go ashore. It did not matter if you sailed for five or 50 days, a test was a compulsory roadblock to visit the island. Posted on 17 May
