If planning an Atlantic crossing to the Caribbean, you may be interested in World Cruising Club's new rally that runs in January - ARC January.
This later start date is offered as an alternative to the classic November departure and runs from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria to Rodney Bay, St. Lucia.
Yachts departing the Med for an Atlantic crossing should be aware that Orca activity continues off Gibraltar and is a concern for yachts heading out of the Med or up the western Iberian coast.
An exclusion zone was implemented this month for small boat traffic off SW Spain in an effort to reduce the number of yachts with rudder damage.
