The Cruising Association (CA) is excited to be returning to the Southampton International Boat Show, 10-19 September 2021, and hosting a packed programme for its members, prospective members and those new to the world of sail and motor cruising.

As the largest organisation catering exclusively to the needs of cruising sail and motor boaters, there are plenty of reasons to drop in on the CA's stand J419 in Ocean Hall over the ten days of the show. Come and experience the unrivalled range of services and information the CA offers, try out a preview of the next generation CAptain's Mate app, win prizes in the daily on-stand draws, meet our experts for advice on your burning technical questions and much, much more.

"The Cruising Association is looking forward to welcoming a crowd of yacht and motor cruisers to the Southampton International Boat Show," commented Lucy Gray, Cruising Association General Manager.

"After an unprecedented past 18 months, we are excited to celebrate and rejoin our members face-to-face and for prospective members to discover the many benefits of joining the Cruising Association and experience our friendly community."

CAptain's Mate in the spotlight

Spearheading the CA's presence at the show is the roll out of the all-new CAptain's Mate app. Exclusively for members, CAptain's Mate covers over 6,400 global locations from Greenland to the Galapagos. For members by members and free from commercial influence, the user-friendly app features the very best of what cruisers need, integrating cutting edge technology with simple functionality. CAptain's Mate includes features such as port and harbour entrance information, marine location and facility listings, topography and satellite views, photo illustrations, the Find my Friend community resource and numerous filters so you can drill down to the precise information required. Visit stand J419 for a live demo and tour of the next generation CAptain's Mate app.

"We are very excited to reveal our upgrades to the CAptain's Mate app," continued Lucy Gray. "This latest generation app which has evolved over several years embraces a new design, increased functionality and even more detail on worldwide marine locations. It is a complex toolkit that has been made simple and has already proven itself as a unique and invaluable tool for cruising yacht and motor boaters."

Be in it to win it!

Every day the Cruising Association holds member-only on-stand draws offering a fantastic array of prizes to be won, in partnership with Gill Marine, ICOM, ASAP, Adlard Coles, Imray, Bainbridge Marine, Ship Shape Bedding, AquaMarine, First Class Sailing and Cruising Association goodies. On Wednesday 15 September, one lucky member's name will be drawn to win the CA's big Summer prize of a £2,000 boat clean-up from GRPro-Clean.

Everyone who visits stand J419 will be in with a chance of winning the show prize draw from Gill Marine. Worth £510, you can get your hands on an OS2 coastal/offshore suit, with the winner's name announced on the final day, Sunday 19 September.

RATS advice

On both Saturday afternoons, from 1300-1630 hours on 11 and 18 September, experts from our technical committee, Regulations and Technical Services (RATS), will be on stand and on hand to answer your questions.

Our experts will provide practical advice to members and non-members through a myriad of regulation and legislation topics, such as VAT, Brexit, entry and exit formalities, pets abroad, 90/180 stays and red diesel. Takeaway VAT information packs are also available, covering key issues on the implications of VAT legislation which affect cruising yacht and motor boaters.

Join the CA at the Show and enjoy a discount

Anyone joining the Cruising Association during the show will receive a 10% discount on their first year's membership when paying by Direct Debit, and be in the daily prize draw to win a one-year Navionics Boating app subscription.
