Barton Partners with the RYA OnBoard Programme
We are proud to be working with the RYA OnBoard Programme to help make it more accessible for youngsters to try sailing and windsurfing.  We are supporting OnBoard by providing eight mega stand up paddle boards (SUPs) for young sailors to enjoy at RYA Onboard festivals and events across the UK.

These big paddleboards can be crewed by a group of kids so should provide hours of wet and wild fun during the OnBoard events while also creating team building skills and providing confidence to these young sailors.

Hannah Cockle, OnBoard Operations Officer gave us a great testimonial, Its so exciting to have Barton Marine on board. Since we first spoke theyve been so keen to support getting children out on the water and the SUPs are a perfect way to do this. There is really no experience needed to use a SUP so they are perfect for everyone, and of course great fun!

Fundraising For Wednesday Junior Sailing
A Running Block Illustration
There is less than a month remaining before Darren Tuff, one of our production engineers and mad keen long distance runner, hits the streets of London dressed as a Barton block!  He is running the Marathon this year to raise money for Wednesday Junior Sailing, an award-winningcommunity scheme provided through the Royal Lymington Yacht Club, to encourage children to learn sailing, rowing and basic seamanship.  This program is open to every child up to 18 years old, so that no matter what the background or economic level, the kids get expert instruction in a safe and secure environment.

Frequently, children develop a lifelong passion for sailing through Wednesday Junior Sailing, building their confidence and life skills in the process. They can then take advantage of the next level in the club Junior Training program to progress further. Some of our British Olympians have even started their sailing careers via the scheme. The project is increasingly expensive to run, but given the great community benefits, the Club is determined that the project should remain available to all local children.

We need all of your help to raise £3000 and get as many young people onto the water as possible.  Even £1 will make a difference, so click here and make a donation now.

Women in Marine At Southampton Boat Show

We are proud to sponsor the 2021 Women in Marine Networking Reception once again at The Southampton Boat Show 2021 on Thursday 16th September at 16.30.  The continued sponsorship of the popular event enables women from all parts of the industry to network with each other, cementing existing relationships and forging new ones to encourage and support each other in their careers.

Diversity in the workforce is considered key to success within the Barton team so supporting this popular event at Southampton Boat Show allows this message to be projected to the marine trades.  This years event will see Allie Smith, Head of Group Events at Oyster Yachts
share her career stories and trade secrets.  She possess a huge amount of experience within the marine industry making her speech unmissable.

You need to register to attend, so click here and get your name onto the guest list.

Dave Hawkins - Round the Island and Fastnet Rock
As a crew member on racing trimaran Morpheus, Dave has had a very busy summer!  The team raced round the island in a very respectable 6 hours 55 minutes and 52 seconds!  Attracting a lot of attention, we have kindly been given some great photos of the team approaching the Needles. Our favourite shown below (courtesy of Orion Shuttleworth).

The team then also took on the legendary Fastnet Race.  They completed the 695 nautical mile course to the Fastnet Rock and back in 3 days, 10 hours, 35 minutes and 53 seconds.  A great achievement brought about through dedication to the cause, close team work and of course, a number of Barton products onboard! .
LaserFest in Whitstable
LaserFest was hosted at Whitstable Yacht Club at the beginning of the summer.  Both Christian Brewer, our Global Sales Manager and Sailor Harry, our Rising Star were out on the water competing around our awesome Barton Race Buoys.  From a field of 41 boats...

Christian placed 2nd overall and was top Whitstable Boat (winning the Peter Raymer trophy), 1st Oldie  in the 55-65 age group.

Harry Newton placed 5th overall and 3rd senior in the 18-35 age group.

Overall a pretty successful weekend on the water!
