Cruisers join together to help clean up around the marina and harbour of Licata, Italy.
International Coastal Clean-up Day, Saturday 18th September, saw OCC members, Phil and Norma Heaton (s/y MINNIE B) join with the ocean conservation organisation Project Manaia team of Manuel and Pinar Marinelli (www.projectmanaia.at) and some cruisers from Germany, Canada, Belgium, Austria and Italy collecting discarded plastics around the marina and harbour at Licata, Sicily.
Sadly, much of the plastic waste comes from polystyrene boxes used by the local fishing fleet and single-use water bottles. However, a vast amount was collected and saved from further pollution of the seas.
