Boris Herrmann's Team Malizia announces the growth of their commercial team based in Hamburg with the recruitment of three new members. With strong areas of expertise in high end and mainstream media, science, education, politics and sustainability, they will help develop the communications and commercial aspects of the "A Race We Must Win" campaign and add to the mission of inspiring ambitious climate action through the emotions of sailing and educating around solutions to the climate crisis.
Team Malizia has been very busy since the finish of the Vendee Globe in January 2021. With the launch of a new campaign and securing seven main partners, the team has laid the foundations for the upcoming years. Their new IMOCA racing yacht is currently under construction in Vannes (France) following ground-breaking design processes and is due to be presented to the public on 19 July 2022. Alongside the build of a new race boat, the team is preparing and planning its participation in the two most famous around the world races, The Ocean Race 2023 and the Vendee Globe 2024.
As important as performing well in races is, Team Malizia runs its "A Race We Must Win" campaign to inspire ambitious climate action through the emotions of sailing and to educate around solutions to the climate crises. In order to develop the campaign which is run mostly from Hamburg (Germany), the team recently hired three new members.
Nikolaus Albrecht (German) joins as the Communications Director. He was editor-in-chief of Vanity Fair Germany & Glamour, with a stint at Vogue too and running his own agency for many years. He brings a wealth of experience in the print and media world, both mainstream and high end whilst adding his international expertise.
Helene Katz (French/German) joined Team Malizia as the Communications Manager with a background in marine geosciences and science communication, journalism and outreach. She has previously worked as a science communication officer at the University of Bordeaux (France) with a strong focus on climate and sustainability topics and digital communications.
Cornelius Eich (German) takes over the role of Commercial Manager. As the former Secretary General of the European Power Tool Association in Brussels (Belgium), he brings his strong expertise in politics, partner management and sustainability initiatives to the team as well as networking and negotiating skills across at an European and international level.
The "A Race We Must Win" campaign unites multiple stakeholders such as Team Malizia's seven main partners, NGOs, foundations as well as education and science institutes behind the common goal of climate action. Therefore, with their strong backgrounds in high end and mainstream media, science, education, politics and sustainability, the three new Team Malizia members will bolster the successful race team in order to promote the campaign further, influence more and create a true meaningful impact.
Team Malizia is accompanied by its partners Yacht Club de Monaco, EFG International, Zurich Group Germany, Kuehne+Nagel, MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company, Hapag-Lloyd and Schütz.
