St Augustine, Florida is the host site for the SSCA Cruisers Conference or its maritime name, a "GAM" November 2022. For the SSCA 70th Year Anniversary, with events in the Northeast USA, West Coast USA and in Florida, we celebrate our 70 years of cruising history.
Join SSCA in St Augustine for a three-day weekend of all things cruising. Pick the sessions that interest you, and choose the topics on what will help you cruising near or offshore. Meet us at the St. Augustine Shriners Club for three days of fellowship, presentations, and sharing. The programs kick off with our traditional "meet and greet" at our Thursday Happy Hour at the St. Augustine Yacht Club with our St. Augustine host Sailor Bill Goebel.
Starting Friday, November 11th our presenters include experts such as our Key Note Speaker, Addison Chan (Facebook Bahamas Land and Sea/ Cuba Land and Sea, author of several cruising guides), and Energy Specialist Commodore Scott Berg who will share critical knowledge about your energy needs. Learn about weather with Chris Parker (Marine Weather Center www.mwxc.com). Discover what works for cruisers' with speakers Bill Cullen (www.thebookofsail.com) with Cruising Gadgets, Knowledge and Ideas for the Cruising Sailor plus Circumnavigator Commodore Neil Davies will share his latest adventure and lessons learned, from the tropical Caribbean/Bahamas to Western Florida/Florida Panhandle. Learn how Commodore Donna Lange managed her Solo Circumnavigations, 2X Around and her advice for families. Listen to Cris Ware as he shares their three Covid years in the Eastern Caribbean, and about his "Lessons Learned Toolbox". Then find out what is making noise underwater with Damon Gannon (Marine Biologist) with his research on bioacoustics - a presentation to help everyone identify the animals we cruise over.
The St Augustine Museum will present the amazing history of the St. Augustine area and its maritime adventurers. And then join us for a special video webinar live from Spain presented by John Kretschmer (johnkretschmersailing.com) as he shares his completed Summer 2022 North Atlantic leg (via Greenland/Iceland) to Spain. These are just some but not all of our presentations by speakers who will share their knowledge over the weekend. Round table of "Meet the Speakers", and "Heading South" discussions continue thru the weekend to let you talk one on one and share knowledge. Connect live with our Cruising Station Hosts from the Caribbean, Panama and the Seven Seas.
Watch for updates and agenda posts on the SSCA website over the next few weeks. Registration starts August 15, 2022 at www.ssca.org.
