After sailing 625NM from Lombok, the World ARC fleet has arrived and is safely moored at Flying Fish Cove on Christmas Island.

All the crews have been cleared ashore with the coordination of Australian Border Force and received a Welcome Pack kindly put together by the Visitors Information Centre.

This Australian territory, closer to Asia than mainland Australia, is the summit of a submarine mountain, rising steeply to a central plateau dominated by stands of rainforest.

The Island is 135 km2 of which 85 km2 is National Park. Additionally, there is a marine park that extends 50 miles seaward of the low water mark for 46 km of the coastline. With its huge biodiversity, Christmas Island is also known as the Galapagos from the Indian Ocean!

With so much to see and experience, World ARC crews will be busy enjoying themselves during the next days on Christmas Island.
