ARC+: Final destination - The Spice Island of the Caribbean, Grenada

ARC Plus © ARC Atlantic Rally for Cruisers?

The ARC+ fleet is in the second half of their transatlantic adventure, having left Mindelo in the Cape Verde islands just less than 10 days ago. The wind conditions have been solid, trade wind conditions, but the sea state and swells have been uncomfortable for many days of the trip so far.

However, from the wonderfully entertaining and informative logs, which we have been receiving to the website, we know that the cruisers have been enjoying their trip with culinary experimentation in the gallery, producing some five star results, and some successful fishing too.

During the passage, so far, there have been a number of challenges for several crews. The yacht Alika was successful in transferring an injured crew member from their yacht to a motor vessel, which was standing by, during the course of yesterday. Other problems have included damaged sails, malfunctioning autopilots, and other electronic issues. But, true to the spirit of the ARC, the yachts have kept in contact with one another, maintained monitoring of each others' position through the daily position updates, to help one another out on their issues.

The first arrival in the splendid C&N Port Louis Marina in Grenada will be the Italian flagged, Mylius 60, Fra Diavolo. They will have a crossing time of 9 days. Next in the pipeline will be the two Outremers Piment Rouge and Helia 2, who have been testing each other for second place across the finish line since the start of week two.

Rally control is now established in Grenada and the yellow shirt team is looking forward to welcoming in all the arrivals during the course of the next days. Having arrived in Grenada, crews have a wonderful program of activities, and exploration, as well as relaxation to look forward to on the enchanted spice island of Grenada.
