The first World Sailing Show of 2023 opens with a look at the start of The Ocean Race in Alicante, Spain, where five teams will compete in a nine-stop race around the world over the course of six months and six more will be part of the VO65 Sprint Cup.

There is also a special feature on the eSailing World Championship Finals, which took place at Ocean Live Park, the race village for the first leg of The Ocean Race. Ten players battled it out in the first live final since 2019 for a shot at the grand prize and the title of eSailing World Champion 2022.

January's episode also recaps the 75th Sydney-Hobart Yacht Race. The 109-strong fleet set out on a five-day pursuit starting on Boxing Day and ending on New Year's Eve and was not short of drama.

Top level sailing does not stop, and the World Sailing Show catches up with the SailGP crews on location in Singapore for the first Sailing Grand Prix to be held in the city-state. The season is approaching a pivotal point and the teams were raring to go with crucial points up for grabs in the fight to wrestle the trophy away from the dominant Team Australia.

Elsewhere, the episode goes behind the scenes with Greenboats, winners of the 11th Hour Racing Sustainability Award in 2022 and finds out how the team is implementing the most modern and sustainable boat building techniques to make competitive sailing more eco-friendly.

There is also an update on the Maiden Factor led by an all-female crew as the journey reaches South Africa and continues to inspire young women through sailing along the way.

Produced by Sunset+Vine and released every month, the World Sailing Show shares the latest news, events, and captivating stories from across the sport with audiences around the world. Each episode is available to watch for free on the World Sailing YouTube channel and the World Sailing website.
