The first leg of the Marina Militare Nastro Rosa Tour concluded with the victory of the "Città di Taranto" team. Carlo Campetella and Matteo Marzotto crossed the finish line in front of La Maddalena at 16:56 on Tuesday afternoon, beating Dr Automobiles (Cam Hook-James Bassom) by over an hour (18:10), and the Guardia di Finanza-Fiamme Gialle team (Francesco Marrai-Romolo Emiliani) by two hours (18:57).

These are the top three finishers in a stage filled with thrilling moments, from moments of calm to violent gusts of wind. The key tactical decision of passing Corsica was left to the left by eight out of ten teams, while Città di Taranto and Dr Automobiles chose to pass on the right, ultimately arriving in first and second place, respectively.

"It was a great experience, a technical and competitive race. Crossing the finish line first was a tremendous thrill. Corsica was a crucial mark that led us to make a strategic decision early on. In the end, choosing to pass on the right proved to be decisive. We found calmer sea conditions and maintained a good speed. Racing against Dr Automobiles was like a match race until we broke away near Bastia by hugging the shore to take advantage of thermals. We want to express our gratitude to the shore team of the Marina Militare Nastro Rosa Tour and the entire organization, whose dedication makes this event of absolute value and allows us sailors to focus solely on the boat's speed," commented Matteo Marzotto once ashore.

The achievement of the Città di Taranto team was celebrated by Rinaldo Melucci, the mayor of the city, who commented on social media: "Congratulations to Carlo Campetella and Matteo Marzotto for bringing our city to the top of the podium in this phase of the longest and most important sailing competition in Italy and the Mediterranean."

Following the top three finishers, Acone Associati (Marco Augelli-Francisco Gonzalez Sanchez), Carta Giovani (Max Quester-Giulia Farnetani), and Città di Genova (Arianna Liconti-Francesco Farci) crossed the finish line in La Maddalena.

Activities at the Race Village

While the PRO Valentina Bravi managed the first trials of Wingofoil and WASZP in the morning, recording the offshore race arrivals at the finish line in La Maddalena, several activities took place at the Race Village, captivating and engaging the audience.

In the morning, starting early from the Race Village, Mayor Fabio Lai of La Maddalena, accompanied by C.V. Simone Battisti, Commander of the La Maddalena Non-Commissioned Officers School, and a large group of cyclists, inaugurated a new section of the cycle path that, once completed, will connect the island of La Maddalena to Caprera. The cutting of the tricolor ribbon took place on a significant day, as it marked the anniversary of the birth (July 4, 1807) of Giuseppe Garibaldi, and it kicked off the Memorial Tourism Bike Ride, a thematic aspect of the Valore Paese Italia project promoted by Difesa Servizi S.p.A.

In the evening, the Race Village was packed with spectators who enjoyed a tasting of Genoese pesto, promoted by Il Pesto di Prà by Stefano Bruzzone, and the Marina Militare Nastro Rosa Gadget Night. During this event, some lucky individuals received official merchandise from this event organized by Difesa Servizi S.p.A. and SSI Events in collaboration with the Marina Militare.
