The 84th challenge of one of the most storied yacht races on the Great Lakes recently took place on Lake Michigan. It's called the Queen's Cup Race, a mad 67.5nm dash east across Lake Michigan that departs from Milwaukee, WI to Muskegon, MI on the eastern shoreline.

Both Milwaukee's South Shore Yacht Club and the Muskegon Yacht Club always provide an experience worthy of the famous Queen's Cup Race (the trophy donated by the Queen Elizabeth of England herself).

ORC Divisions

Winning ORC 2 Division was Robert Klairmont's J/160 SIROCCO. Then, winning ORC 3 Division was Doug Evans's J/122 ELBOW ROOM. Winning ORC 4 Division was Spencer Thomason's J/111 JUST ONE MORE. Taking second in ORC 5 Division was Tod & Heidi Patton's J/112E BLONDIE. Winning ORC 6 Division was Larry Taunt's J/35 BAD DOG. Finally, Joel Carroll's J/105 LITTLE HOULIGAN took the silver in ORC 7 Division.

PHRF Divisions

It was a clean sweep of the PHRF Shorthanded Division. Winning was Justin Acker's J/88 McQUEEN, second was Ronald Otto's J/110 TAKEDOWN 2, and third was Tom Cairns's J/105 BEDAZZLED. Taking second in PHRF 2 Division was Bill & Jean Schanen's J/145 MAIN STREET, while Klairmont's J/160 SIROCCO ended up fifth place. Then, in PHRF 3 Division, Evans's J/122 ELBOW ROOM finished third place.

The PHRF 4 Division was all J/111s sailing as a one-design class. Winning was Blane Shea's STRIKING BACK, followed by Bob Hughes's SHORTHANDED in second, and Spencer Thomason's JUST ONE MORE in third place. Finally, in PHRF 5 Division, Tod & Heidi Patton's J/112E BLONDIE ended up in 5th place.
