Icom is pleased to announce the launch of the IC-U20SR ultra compact PMR446 licence-free two-way radio. With its compact stylish design and convenient features including simple controls and long battery life this radio will become a dependable tool for business and leisure users.

Operating on the PMR446 frequency band the IC-U20SR requires no licence allowing users to communicate without regulatory restrictions. This user-friendly, ultra-compact radio is the perfect choice for professional use in hospitality, security, construction or outdoor recreational activities.

Key features of the IC-U20SR include:

Ultra-Compact Design: The IC-U20SR measures only 50(w) x 26.7(d) x 94(h) mm, taking little space when put in your pocket or belt. In addition, the IC-U20SR is very light, weighing only 156 grams. It is perfect for retail or hospitality workers who need a discrete radio that provides good performance.

Easy to use: A minimal number of buttons and a large LCD make this radio easy in high turnover environments where some staff may have minimal radio operation experience.

Licence-Free Radio Solution: Operating on the PMR446 frequency band the IC-U20R requires no licence or additional fees making it a cost-effective out-of-the-box solution for businesses and individuals alike.

Robust Construction: Despite its small lightweight body the IC-U20SR is built to withstand challenging environments. Its polycarbonate case is designed to be rugged and durable. The radio is waterproof to IP54 and approved by military certification MIL-STD810-G to protect it against dust, water splashes and shock to withstand heavy use.

Long Battery Life: With its supplied BP-304A, 2350 mAh Lithium-Ion battery, the IC-U20SR offers users extended hours of communication (up to 21 hours) reducing the need for frequent recharging.

Emergency Buttons: The Icom IC-U20SR radio has two programmable keys which can be reprogrammed according to your need and use. An orange emergency button on the top that with a long press can send an emergency audio signal to the other devices present on your agreed channel.

The second is a side button that allows the Call-Ring function to make group calls by ringing other Icom portables. Smart-ring function is also available which checks whether a group member is in range or not.

Multiple USB Charging Options: There are three different ways of charging the IC-U20SR. There is direct radio body connection charging with USB Type-C cable (no data transfer function). You can also charge the radio with the BC-262 Charging cradle as well as charge the BP-304A lithium-ion separately with the BC-264 battery charger.

Clear Audio Quality: The transceiver is equipped with a 600mW speaker that provides clear audio for any noisy environment.

VOX function: The VOX (Voice-Activated Transmit) function, when enabled, provides hands-free operation, allowing users to communicate effortlessly.

'We are excited to introduce the IC-U20SR PMR446 Licence-Free Two Way Radio', said Ian Lockyer, Marketing Manager at Icom UK. 'With its ultra compact size, stylish but durable body and performance it is a cost-effective solution for businesses and individuals in various industries ranging from retail, hospitality to warehousing and construction. We also believe the attractive stylish design of the IC-U20SR will appeal to new radio users who need reliable communications but maybe have not been attracted to traditional two-way radio solutions.'
