Paddy and Keith Broughton are true exemplars of the ocean racing spirit, having campaigned the much travelled and very popular Kialoa II in all of the world’s major offshore classics, with the exception of the Newport to Bermuda Race (and then only because of a COVID interruption). Sadly, Kialoa II’s participation in the 50th Rolex Fastnet Race will be the last under Paddy and Keith’s ownership.
In this interview with Paddy you get a true sense of the brothers’ commitment to the extraordinary challenges they’ve pursued and the joy of sharing those experiences with friends. The Bow Caddy team will greatly miss the genial Broughtons and the beautiful Kialoa II on the Australian racing scene. Their sailing stories and post race interviews have been highlights for us, wherever we’ve found them.
