Dear Sailors,

The first World Bay Area Regatta will take place in Bao'an, Shenzhen on 12-17 Dec 2023 between sailing teams from bay areas worldwide. This event is a collaborative effort between the Chinese Yachting Association, the Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality, and the People's Government of Bao'an District. The organization is led by the Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports Bureau of Bao'an District, with management and operation by Shenzhen Across Four Oceans Club Co., Ltd.

The regatta aims to foster exchanges about sailing culture within the bay areas’ sailing community, and enhance the sailing skills of participants. Additionally, it seeks to strengthen connections among bay areas worldwide, promoting mutual development between the event and the sailing industry within these bay regions. Shenzhen is the host city of the China Cup International Regatta. Bao'an, located in the central area of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) on the east bank of the Pearl River estuary, boasts an extensive 49.5-kilometer coastline, abundant coastal resources, and a favorable climate. Shenzhen, celebrated for its open and inclusive nature, stands as a beacon of economic prosperity. As a prominent player in China, it exhibits robust growth in sectors such as manufacturing, logistics, conventions, and airport-driven development.

Sailors from the world’s renowned bay areas, such as Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the San Francisco Bay Area, the Tokyo Bay area, the New York bay area, and the Sydney bay area etc, have all been invited to take part in the 2023 World Bay Area Regatta.

Teams that are invited and have completed registration will race on boats provided by the Organizing Committee with no charter fee. Participants will only be required to place a deposit, which will be fully refunded following a post-event inspection, if the boat remains undamaged. The organizers will provide accommodation (two sailors share a hotel room) and meals during the event for teams entered the 2023 World Bay Area Regatta.
