2024 ILCA 6 Youth and Men's World Championships at Yacht Club Argentino - Day 4

by ILCA/Yacht Club Argentino 18 Jan 2024 03:20 UTC 12-19 January 2024

On the fourth day of the ILCA 6 2024 Youth and Men's World Championships, the first day of the final series took place. Today was an excellent day for racing: sun, significant waves, and a Northeast wind of about 18 knots. The two races for each fleet were sailed as scheduled.

In the Youth Men's gold fleet, Italian sailor Antonio Pascali solidified his lead in the first place with a 7-point lead over the second-place Brazilian, Thomas Vives Potthoff. His compatriot, Gustavo Canovas Kiessling, maintains his standing in third place.

In the Youth Men's silver fleet, New Zealander Nicolaas Van Nunen secures the top spot with two second-place finishes in the day's races, followed by Hong Kong's Pedro Jessop, who won the first race of the day and is just one point behind the leader. Hamish Collingridge from Great Britain completes the top finishers in third place.

Italian Maria Vittoria Arseni continues to lead the championship in the youth women's category with a 1-point difference from fellow Italian Ginevra Caracciolo, who had her best day today by winning both races. Irish sailor Sienna Wright approaches the Italians and regains the third position.

In the Men's division, Argentinian sailor Francisco Renna maintains the top spot by winning all the day's races and securing a 10-point lead. Fellow Argentinian Juan Pablo Bisio is in second place, and Brazilian Antonio Cavalcanti Rosa is just 2 points behind in third place.

At the end of the day, a social event was held for all competitors. The final series will continue tomorrow.

All information about the event, as well as photos and videos, is available on the official event website and on the social media pages.
