Louis Vuitton Cup and America's Cup race schedule and format announced

The racing calendar for the Louis Vuitton Cup for the Challenger Selection Series, and the America's Cup have been confirmed and announced.

The entire event will run from August 20, 2024 to October 27, 2024

The America's Cup Events open with a Practice race for all teams in AC75s on August 20, 2024, and concludes with the Final Reserve day for the America's Cup Match on October 27, 2024. Race 13 in the Match - if it is required is on October 21, 2024, and the earliest the Cup outcome could be determined in the best of 13 series is Friday October 18, 2024.

The Defender, Emirates Team New Zealand will sail in the Round Robin phase of the Louis Vuitton Cup, but will not score points.

Four of the top five from the Round Robin phase will progress to content the Semi-Final

  • Final Preliminary regatta will be sailed in AC75s on August 22-25, inclusive. Four races per day will be sailed.

  • Round Robin 1 and 2 of the Louis Vuitton Cup will run from August 29 to September 8, 2024, with Reserve Days, that can be used for racing on Sept 2, 6 and 6. Up to four races per day will be sailed.

  • Semi-Final racing is scheduled for the period September 14 - 19, with Sept 20-23 being Reserve Days. The Semi-Finals are a best of 9 series. Up to four races per day can be sailed.

  • Finals racing in the Louis Vuitton Cup, will be conducted from September 26 to October 5, with Reserve Days on October 6-7 inclusive, in a best of 13 series. Two races per day will be sailed.

  • America's Cup Match starts on October 12 to October 21, with Reserve Days on Oct 14-15, 17 and 22-27. Two races per day will be sailed.

Youth and Womens America's Cup.

  • Youth America's Cup will be sailed from September 17 - 22 (with the Final being sailed on Sept 26 - Day 1 of the Louis Vuitton Cup Final).

  • Womens America's Cup will be sailed from October 5 - 13 (with the Final being sailed on Oct 23 - Day 2 of the America's Cup).

A Reserve day can be designated as a Racing Day.

Six teams in total - five Challengers and the Defender will sail in the Louis Vuitton Cup, with the Defender and one Challenger dropping out after the conclusion of Round Robin 2.

Twelve teams will contest the Youth and Womens America's Cups, with six being eliminated after four days of Round Robin racing, with the top six teams going on to contest the Final day of the two events in four races, with the Grand Final being held during the Louis Vuitton Cup and America's Cup respectively.
