Online registration is now open for the 2024 edition of the RAN 630 offshore race, organized by the Yacht Club Livorno and the Italian Naval Accademy.

The 630 miles course starts from Livorno, on the Tuscany coast, with the first mark off Porto Cervo in Sardinia, then southeast to a mark in front of the famous Capri's Faraglioni rocks, then back to the finish in Livorno. The Yacht Club Costa Smeralda and the Yacht Club Capri will feed the rounding times to the organization for their respective marks.

The race will take place from April 23 to May 1, 2024 under the aegis of the Italian Sailing Federation (FIV), is valid as a Grade 3 race in the Unione Italiana Vela d'Altura (UVAI) Italian Offshore Championship. Results will be calculated under both ORC and IRC. Double Handed crews will compete both, overall and in a DH class.

The start will be given by a blank shot from a Unit of the Naval Squadron of the Italian Navy at sunset on April 24, to be followed by night sailing under a full moon. The prize giving ceremony will take place in the afternoon of Wednesday May 1, 2024. The Italian Naval Squadron's Operations Centre will monitor the entire race to ensure the best safety conditions for competitors.

To register, all you need to do is fill in the online form on the RAN 630 website at ran630.it/iscriviti

As always, a number of the Italian Navy sailing yachts will be at the start, including Gemini, a 1983 IOR First Class designed by Andrea Vallicelli. Yachts from Italian or foreign military corps will also compete for the Trofeo Saverio Marotta, reserved for them.

Among the sailors who will be present at this seventh edition are some well-known names including the Australian Mitch Booth, two-time Olympic medallist on the Tornado, and Italian Pietro D'Alì, both on Franco Niggeler's Cookson 50 Kuka3.

Also confirmed for the 2024 edition is the partnership with Officine Gullo, an excellence of Made in Italy that from Florence exports its bespoke metal kitchens to the world's most elegant residences. An exclusive invitation-only event, reserved to the owners participating in the RAN 630, will take place on February 29 in its experiential showroom in Florence.

Official timekeeper of the RAN 630 will be again this year Locman, a watchmaker based on the Elba Island, which will offer some of its timepieces to the winners in the different categories.

On the sustainability front, the RAN 630's collaboration with One Ocean Foundation continues, in particular with the project of the Onboard Ecology Officer (RECO) who will be in charge of enforcing good practices for the protection of the sea while sailing.
