World ARC 2023-24 in Salvador!

by World Cruising Club 16 Feb 00:53 UTC

World ARC 2023-24 have been enjoying their time in Salvador de Bahia, Brazil after crossing the South Atlantic from Namibia, via St. Helena. Upon arrival in Salvador, it was carnival - quite a contrast from the isolated time at sea that the sailors would have become quite used to!

Over the past fortnight people from all over Brazil have been flocking to Salvador by the thousands as it is known to be one of the best street-party carnivals in the world. Instead of beating waves, it has been beating drums for the past week!

Now that things have calmed down, tomorrow the World ARC tour will dive deeper into the rich cultural history behind todays bustling city. Although the street parties have dissipated there is still a buzz of carnival in the air and many of the performance stages are still up!

The World ARC Salvador programme finishes in the evening of 17th February with our Leg 15 prize-giving and cocktail night. From here many of the boats will cruise the coast up North to Cabedelo with some going to Fernando de Noronha before heading back down. Brazil is certainly an exciting destination and Salvador has been the perfect first impression.
