One of Europe's largest marina groups, MDL is delighted to offer its support to the UK Nacra 15 Class Association, part of the British Youth Sailing pathway and the Mixed Youth Multihull equipment for the Youth Sailing World Championships.

As part of its ongoing support, MDL has agreed to host the UK Nacra 15 Summer Championships class fleet at its picturesque Hamble Point Marina, which is ideally situated at the mouth of the river Hamble adjacent to the world-class sailing waters of The Solent.

Taking place over the weekend of 29-30 June 2024, participating sailors and organisers will enjoy access to the marinas' excellent facilities to support their racing, including slipway access for launch and recovery, pontoon access and berthing for the team's coaching RIBs. Hamble Point Marina also offers boat and sail repairs, as well as several convivial cafes, bars and restaurants within close proximity.

"As the only sailing class at the Youth Olympic Games, the Nacra 15 is the perfect opportunity for youth sailors to participate in races that may ultimately see them represent their country at the Olympics," says Tim Mayer, Sales and Marketing Director at MDL.

"We're thrilled to be supporting such a great event and look forward to welcoming the teams to our Hamble Point Marina during the summer series."

This event is organised in cooperation with Warsash SC, who will provide race management, whilst Hamble Point serves as the onshore venue for the sailors during the weekend.

MDL has also agreed to host an additional training camp at Hamble Point Marina later in the year when the Nacra 15 teams will return as part of their winter training programme.

UK Nacra 15 Class

Established in 2015, the Nacra 15 was specifically designed to meet the World Sailing's Mixed Youth Multihull criteria, with teams made up of predominantly mixed gender pairings under 21 years old, and the only mixed class at youth level, promoting gender equity and equal opportunities. Since then, the Nacra 15 Class has become a truly international fleet, with over 400 boats worldwide.

Part of the Sailing Chandlery UK Nacra 15 National Series, the UK Summer Championships at Hamble Point Marina is one of six events taking place this summer. The series is set to provide a variety of high-speed, tactical racing opportunities, featuring an exciting mix of coastal and inland venues. And with racing formats ranging from windward-leeward championship racing to long distance endurance formats, it offers a unique challenge amongst youth pathway classes.

"In partnering with MDL Marinas, we recognise a shared passion for high-performance youth sailing. MDL's support ensures our sailors can enjoy the excellent class facilities at Hamble Point Marina, with great access to the world-renowned conditions on The Solent", says Ben Harris, UK Nacra 15 Class Communications Officer.
