Andrew Clarke's J-122 Zig Zag edged out Chris Lewis' J-44 Kenai by 31 seconds to win the ORC 3 Class and Fleet in the 2024 Ft. Lauderdale to Key West Race.

The win wraps up a second consecutive season series win for Zig Zag, with a three-point margin over Kenai, and six-point margin over NEKA Sailing's HH42 Inception, winner of the ORC 1 class in the Key West Race. Bill Culberson's J-145 Live Wire won the ORC 2 class, and Tom Reese's Corsair Cruze 970 Flight Simulator won the Multihull class in Key West. David Greenstein and Stephen Murray's Mills 68 Space Monkey was first to finish. Race and Series awards were presented at the SORC Awards Party on the beach at the Southernmost Café.

Dates are set for next season's Islands in the Stream Series. For a second year in a row, the series will begin in St. Petersburg with the St. Petersburg to Ft. Lauderdale Race on November 21, 2024. The Wirth M. Munroe Invitational Palm Beach Race is next, on December 6, for the venerable "Race to the Buffet." Prepare for an extra-special 50th Anniversary of the Ft. Lauderdale to Key West Race on January 9, 2025. Finally, for the first time in decades, the series will wrap up in Nassau, with the Nassau Cup Ocean Race starting on February 20. Make your plans early and don't miss the fun. We'll see you on the starting line.
